The Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Montreal, together with the Montreal Salon of Poetry and the Chopin Music Society of Montreal, organized a concert and an evening of poetry named "Summer Night".

During the evening, the pieces of Polish composers such as Fryderyk Chopin, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Karol Szymanowski and Waldemar Kazaniecki were played among others. The pieces were accompanied by poetry, including the poems by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, Bolesław Leśmian and Bronisława Wajs. The pieces were performed by a violinist Nadia Mończak and a pianist Steven Massicotte, while the poems were performed by actress Lilian Komorowska (details in the program).

The concert was accompanied by a ceremony of distinction of Jan Dyner with the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity, awarded by the President of Poland for Jan Dyner’s activity in the labour union movement “Solidarność”. The distinction was awarded by Chargé d'affaires a.i., Consul of the Republic of Poland in Ottawa, Ms. Aleksandra Kucy.

The meeting was attended by about 60 guests, including representatives of the Polish society in Montreal.
